Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

Every leader no matter what the industry at one point in time in their life has passed through a classroom. Whether that was in elementary, middle, secondary or university classroom, teaching and learning are woven into the fabric of our world. The best leaders see teaching and learning opportunities all around us with the world as their classrooms.

The Harvard Business Review in one of their past reports states that many leaders do not grow because they overlook one or more attribute that is foundational to a leader’s mindset. The report asks the question of why many companies are not getting more for their leadership programs. With the many programs we have, we need to see more effectiveness. Simply stated, to be a great leader requires the right mindset.

In another Harvard Business Review article, it states that a mindset of learning from the world is a growth mindset. This means leaders can actively engage with real world issues and embrace all facets of any challenge as learning opportunities. In this reflective episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck discuss some of the leadership lessons they have learned this year. From vulnerability, cross functional leadership to rapid technological advancement, this is a great episode to help leaders reflect on their year.

Lastly, they discuss the need for continuous learning, application and Dr. Feyi’s upcoming new book. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

It is college football season here in the United States, and everyone is cheering on their favorite teams. The teams have spent countless hours training to ensure they are fit and ready when the season opens. Leadership is just like that- it takes consistent training and practice to ensure leadership fitness. From balance training to strength training, flexibility training and endurance training, each facet of fitness has its focus and benefit. So, it is for leadership fitness.

In a 2024 article by Harvard Business Impact, Belcher shares the importance of leadership fitness and how it empowers and equips leaders to see differently and hence lead differently. The article also highlights how leadership fitness ensures leaders thrive in life just like our favorite athletes on the field.

In this insightful episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck explore and discuss the five ingredients necessary for leadership fitness. During their discussion, they explored the difference between strength and stamina, what an impactful mindset does for a leader, how leaders can harness and manage their energy and the great value of building the inner life.

Lastly, they discuss how to spot energy wasters and how to address them effectively.

It is said that change is inevitable. Change is that constant that all humans and systems are faced with. Add to that the ever-changing landscape of how technology impact humans and systems, and we have an automatic landscape of changes and transitions. In his article helping leaders leverage change management, former Forbes Council member Carter highlights the ever-evolving workplace. From physical to cultural to technological shifts, the workplace is a mecca for change. Furthermore, Carter states that “while change can be unique (and specific) to an organization, a strategic process can help leaders prepare, equip and mobilize individuals and teams to embrace transition — it’s called change management, a methodology for influencing people to support a common goal.”

In this insightful episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck examine and discuss change management. From discussing the difference between change and transition, to how good change management helps to facilitate transition, and some tips for leaders leading change for successful transitions. Additionally, they discuss some tips for leaders not leading change and how to navigate that process.

Lastly, they provide an example of how leaders can successfully navigate these situational and psychological shifts whether in the workplace, family or community. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Points of Leadership: Leading For Sustainability

7/23/2025

Quote: “Corporate culture matters. How management chooses to treat its people impacts everything               for better or for worse.” --- Simon Sinek

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

Leadership sustainability is something that most Fortune 500 companies keep center focus on for long lasting impact of their services, products and customers. For example, Apple Inc has consistently ranked in the top 20 of the Fortune Global 500 list since 2013. This type of consistent impact is built and sustained through a corporate lens of excellence that trickles down to every aspect of the company and its culture.

In a 2023 Forbes article by former Forbes Council member Frayda Leibtag, one of the factors that contribute to an impactful sustainability is the power of celebrating success in the workplace. Leibtag states that while it's possible to navigate the workplace without mastering the art of sharing success, excelling in today's professional landscape and creating a positive work culture requires more than just participation; it demands being proactive about how companies communicate their own performance. The article further states that one of the most significant benefits of sharing success is cultivating a culture of celebration. Celebrating success in a company or team is a powerful way to bond, foster a sense of community and ensure fellow employees can feel the appreciation.

In this invigorating episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck explore and discuss the value of prioritizing celebration as a leader for the benefit of the team, organization or company. They discuss some of the visible benefits of making celebration a viable culture that brings many inter-related returns. Such as boosting team morale, building a culture that attracts high performing team, and setting a positive tone of appreciation.

Lastly, they discuss the underlying psychological impact of leading for sustainability and  the power of celebrating success in the workplace. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Points of Leadership: Time Management

Quote: "Time is given us to use in view of eternity" --- Harry Ironside

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

In 2006 Harvard Business School's researchers (Dr. M. Porter and Dr. N. Nohria) launched a study to track how large companies CEOs spent their time. After gathering over 60,000 worth of data, they provided some critical insights on time management for leaders. From best time management practices, to navigating contradictory dualities of leaders role, to integrating decision-making with company strategic plans and culture, Porter and Nohria explain how to simplify the complexities of time management for any leader.

In another study conducted by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2020, data analyzed states that 84% of employees believe poorly trained leaders/managers create unnecessary work and stress for their teams due to poor time management. The ability of any leader to manager his or her time well transfers to the impact of time management on a team.

In this thought provoking episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck dive into this topic by taking a look at three elements of time management that impacts leaders personal, spiritual and professional lives. They discuss what leaders look for when it comes to time management, why time management is important for all leaders and provide some practical examples of what a good time management looks like for leaders to maximize their life both personally and professionally.

Time is the scarcest resource that everyone has. And where and how a leader allocates his or her time matters a lot! As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Quote: "Empathy is about standing in someone else's shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes" --- Daniel H. Pink

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

According to a 2021 Forbes article by Dr. Brower, empathy is the most important leadership skill based on research. Brower states how empathy is a critical skill for leaders and it has taken on a new level of meaning and priority. Empathetic leaders understand the priceless value empathy plays in mental wellbeing, people's personal lives and consistent performance. The research conducted demonstrated the importance of empathy in contributing to positive outcomes, such as innovation, employee engagement, belonging, employee retention and work-life realities.

Additionally, in a 2024 article by Dr. Gentry of Center for Creative Leadership, he explains the importance of leading with empathy. He states that when managers show empathy in the workplace, they improve their effectiveness and increase trust and collaboration on their teams. Gentry affirms how empathetic leadership is an asset to organizations because it increases performance and culture.

In this insightful episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck provide the definition of empathy, discuss how to lead with empathy and provide some examples. Leading with empathy is a super power for leaders who understand the value of human capital and how it drives organizational excellence. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. Quote: "True leadership must be for the benefit of the followers, not to enrich the leader." --- Dr. John C. Maxwell

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead.

There has been a robust body of research in the last decade about servant leadership pointing to it's positive impact on people in any sphere; be it in a family, church, organization, community or business. From enhanced people well-being, productivity and healthy culture, the effects of a servant leader is impactful. Servant leaders are knowledgeable, ethical people who bring value to organizations and the people they serve, through priority, valuing growth, empowerment and sensitivity to personal concerns (Meuser & Smallfield, 2023).

Additionally, in a recent 2025 article by Shonk, a researcher at the Havard Business School, she states that servant leadership is a style in which leaders put the needs, aspirations, and interests of their followers above their own using the thought leadership by Greenleaf who reshaped management and leadership polices in the seventies.

In this powerful episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck provide the general definition of this style of leadership, characteristics of servant leaders, the environment they foster, examples of this style of leadership and close out with some resources to glean, grow and build with. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. Quote: "The lighthouse of the Lord beckons to all as we sail the seas of life." --- Thomas S Monson

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead.

People that live in areas where the weather changes rapidly, have developed some key life skills that keeps them prepared for whatever the weather may bring. From stocking up their homes with essentials to having their weather gears ready in cars, they are a prepared people. Sometimes, this is different in life's uncertainties, where more is needed for stability and orientation.

Imagine you are in a small boat at sea when a storm rolls in. It is easy to become disoriented, with no good sense of direction. It is much easier to panic and feel like getting back on track is impossible. Then suddenly out of no where, a light shines from a far distance- a lighthouse- that gives hope and direction. Lighthouses don't get all wobbly when the weather gets rough; they just stand there shining.

This is exactly what Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck provide in this episode of Points of Leadership podcast. They provide some lighthouse equipping and guidance necessary for great leaders during uncertain times and very useful for certain times as well.
As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Points of Leadership: Law of Pain

3/20/2025

Quote: "Facing difficulties is inevitable; learning from them is optional" --- Dr. John Maxwell

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead.

Webster dictionary provides both the noun and verb definitions of the word "pain." It states the definition of it's noun, as a "localized or generalized unpleasant bodily sensation or complex of sensations that causes mild to severe physical discomfort and emotional distress and typically results from bodily disorder." Webster also, it states the definition of it's verb as to make suffer, or cause distress as to put in trouble or exertion." Simply put, pain signifies discomfort in all its form to the body and emotions.

Pain is a universal life experience for every human being. However, the way each human being experience pain is individual in different ways. Colonel Rawal in his 2024 article, "Understating Pain as a Catalyst for Growth" states that in the midst of the chaos of life lies a great opportunity for growth and change. Furthermore, he states that pain is an essential part of the human journey, acting as life's complex teacher.  The law of pain is all about great management of bad life experiences.

The law of pain examines the importance of good and great management of bad life experiences. In this episode of Points of Leadership, continuing our discussion on Dr. John Maxwell's 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth , we dive into the chapter on law of pain. We begin with a quick overview of the law of pain, examine the universal experience and how pain can propel every human towards growth based on attitude and mindset.

Furthermore, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck- CEO of ReWorking Strategies LLC - a values-based company in Connecticut give a shoutout to the group at UTA that did a study on the law of design. Dr. Feyi and Mrs. Jaeck also discuss the different types of pain and thinking mindsets that can propel people towards life growth or lead to destruction. This episode concludes our discussion from the book on laws of growth.

Lastly, a Biblical view on pain is provided from John 16:33, where Jesus Christ encourages His disciples. It states, " I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace; in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!" As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.

Points of Leadership: Law of Design

2/20/2025

Quote: "Every person is composed of few themes” --- C.S. Lewis

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead.

Life is lived by design whether that is intentional or not, positive or negative. Most people allow their lives to simply happen to them, by floating along and reacting to life. The beauty of life is that God has blessed every person with the same hours and minutes in a day. Every person is composed of few themes and able to maximize their lives for the purposes God created them for.

In a 2023 Havard Business Review article, Strack, Dyrchs and Bailey, share how in corporate strategy projects, executive leadership teams work through a series of questions to determine how their businesses can succeed. They assert that individuals can use a similar process to determine how to live a purposeful life.  The law of design is all about developing life strategies that propels maximum growth, spiritually, personally and professionally.

The law of design examines the importance of strategic thinking in living a purposeful life. One that is received personally, repeated easily and transferred strategically. In this episode of Points of Leadership, continuing our discussion on Dr. John Maxwell's 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth , we dive into the chapter on law of design. We begin with a quick overview of the law of design, why responding to life is beneficial than reactionary, and the value of establishing effective life systems that is well aligned.

Furthermore, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck- CEO of ReWorking Strategies LLC - a values-based company in Connecticut breakdown what effective systems look like and how to consistently re-assess the systems.
