Shoutout to Marianna from New Jersey- she and her friends listen to Points of Leadership, Oasis of Hope and watch Oasis Connection TV on a regular basis! Thank you Marianna for the sweet note and feedback! We are committed to keep challenging you and your friends through thought provoking and transformative episodes! Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Anytime the following questions are asked: What is growth? How can I know I am growing? or How does growth happen?, it's an indication of a reflective person that wants to be the best he or she can be. This episode is dedicated to answering all the questions in one topic- celebrate growth! A great analogy for growth can be derived from plants. Let's take an oak tree for example, growth typically occurs in three major parts. One is the buds, secondly is the root tips and lastly the cambium. Quote 2 "A state of mind that sees God in everything is evidence of growth in grace and a thankful heart"- Charles G Finney Growth happens silently and many times unnoticed. Growth is not just progress. Growth can be defined as increase in size of an organism or part of an organism. This increase in an organism is typically in the number of cells. In similar manner, growth of capacity happens silently with significant changes. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares three key things that can alert a leader to growth in his or her own life and that of the people they care for and lead. Leaders, embrace every opportunity to be all God created you to be! Take a listen and share with all your networks. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Leaders have a way of inspiring and influencing the people they lead. One of those ways is how their influence brings change, transformation and results. However, their influence is not a coincidence but an intentional way in how they choose to live and lead. The Pareto Principle is one of these intentional ways leaders live and lead. Leaders that know first hand the value of productivity, know there is a proven way to productivity. Italian scholar Vilfredo Pareto is the author of the Pareto Principle; a principle that is applicable to many areas of life. One scripture in the Bible points to why leaders must be intentional in how they lead. Luke 12:48 states, "To whom much is given, much is required, and to whom much is entrusted, there is great demand." In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares what the Pareto Principle is, how the Pareto Principle can help leaders increase productivity through well defined parameters and three things these kind of leaders do to continuously to stay productive. Leaders, take a listen and share with your networks. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. To know the power of prayer is to make prayer a non-negotiable priority. Believers in Christ who are yet to know this unparalleled power, have God's open arms of embrace to come closer and get to know the Creator of the Universe, the Alpha and Omega, the All Powerful, All Knowing, and All Present God! The Bible is full of accounts of people who made prayer a priority. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we see the lives of men and women who had an intimate relationship with God, not just in prayer, but in all areas of their lives. The hands of God were evident in their lives. We see that today too in our world. We see holy men and women of God, living out prayer in their everyday lives. These vessels of God understand that prayer is not a magic wand. Rather prayer is a lifestyle of being Christlike. A lifestyle of grace, love, joy, peace, holiness, and everything that brings honor and glory to God! Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Through the years, researchers seem to believe that misguided thoughts or convictions can lead to cognitive dissonance- a state whereby behaviors are contradictory to values or beliefs. Psychologists call this a clash of a person's beliefs and actions that causes internal turmoil or great discomfort. Simply put, cognitive dissonance is when there is an incongruency in one's behavior and beliefs. Studies have shown that sometimes there are root causes to cognitive dissonance. Great news is that change and transformation are possible! In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares about the pathway towards change and transformation from cognitive dissonance. Take a listen and share with anyone that could use this wake up call towards change and inner transformation. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Women have been blazing trails in higher education for years. From leading universities to departments, to imparting knowledge to the next generation of leaders, women in higher education are extraordinary. With limited data on women's leadership in higher education, that has not limited our women leaders in advancing policies and practices in higher education. In a field that is still growing in terms of amplifying women's voices and leadership, we celebrate every woman in leadership in our higher institutions, not just here in the USA but globally. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti chats with veteran education leader Dr. Miriam Ezzani, who is currently an associate professor of educational leadership at TCU College of Education, on her insights on leadership especially for emerging leaders in leading well. Dr. Ezzani shares 3 key insights not just for education leaders but any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those in their charge. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Educators are some of the most passionate people in our world. They are dedicated, caring and go above and beyond their instructional roles. Many know what it is to be surrogate parents to their students at school, cheerleaders to students, and mentors. In a time in public education when it has become difficult finding great educators for our students, kudos to all our educators for holding down the fort and putting students' needs ahead of all the challenges in the educational field. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti chats with veteran educator Mrs. Deanna Mullins about the 3 things new educators should know coming into the profession. These 3 key points will save any new educator and even veteran educators lots of time and effort in navigating their way successfully. A former flight attendant, Mrs. Mullins always knew she would be an impactful educator. Take a listen and share with any educator in your life. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Some recent reports attest to the inability of women to lead in certain arenas. That is far from the truth when we look at the impact and leadership of women through the ages in the government, education, church, healthcare, and real estate to mention a few. In fact, the Bible gives us the example of Deborah, one of the impactful women leaders of the Bible. Deborah's wisdom and courage were standout qualities of her leadership. She was a prophet and judge who heard God's voice and shared His Word with others. In this episode, examine and learn about 3 key things essential for women in leadership. Wishing all our amazing fathers, a wonderful Father's Day! Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Leaders are responsible for their own growth- be it professional, spiritual, or relational. This responsibility cannot be delegated or assigned to someone else. As a leader, you have to take the initiative for your growth. Kudos to all the organizations that provide growth opportunities for their members. Yet, it is still left to the individual if they will take the opportunity provided by their organization. My grandmother had a saying, "You can take a mule to the brook for water, but you can't force that mule to drink if it doesn't want to." So even when your organization or company has meticulously designed professional learning opportunities, you still have to take the personal responsibility to want to grow. No one can want that personal responsibility for you. You have to want to grow and go for it! Take a listen as Drs. Johnson & Feyi Obamehinti discuss 3 points of leadership in personal development. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Leaders are known to go, go, go till they drop! It doesn't have to be this way. Practicing a lifestyle of continuous rejuvenation is the default reset for the body, mind and spirit. This is something that leaders cannot delegate or have your assistant cover for you. A quote attributed to President Abraham Lincoln paints the picture of what continuous rejuvenation looks like. The quote states, "If you are going to cut down a tree for five minutes, spend three minutes sharpening your axe." Your body, mind and spirit is the "axe" you have been blessed with. Take time to keep them healthy so you can cut down those trees daily. Take a listen to learn the 3 ways you can practice continuous rejuvenation. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Leadership is indeed a privilege in helping people become better in who they are, in who they are supposed to be and what they do. Armed with vision, leaders have the opportunity to lead the way for the people they care for. These are what good leaders do for the people they lead. They know it is about the people in their care and not about themselves. From ponzi schemes to selfishness, not every leader is out for the betterment of the people they lead.
