Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. In a January 2004 publication by the Harvard Business Review, W.C.H Prentice explains the importance of understanding leadership. Seems easy, however, he indicated that effective leaders not only bring out the best in others, but they understand the cost of their own continuous growth if they want to stay relevant to the people they lead. In this leadership series, we examine the value of transformational leadership. A leadership approach that brings about valuable change in people and invariably transform systems. Our special guest for this episode knows first hand the cost of this type of leadership approach. Starting out as a young millennial who failed to land a job at Google, to launching his own start-ups, and now a variety of established business ventures, Mr. Jackson Calame understands the importance of leadership. Founder and CEO of First Class Business and host founder of Vision Pros Podcast, Calame works with leaders to ensure balance, freedom and sustainable revenue growth. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, and Mr. Calame, discuss some key leadership principles gathered through his years of building his venture capital backed and boot strapped businesses. He is passionate about helping millennials, hone their passion and skills, so they can refine and own their life journeys. As always, these leadership principles are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead. Pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Part two of our school leadership series continues. We will examine middle school grades. Middle school leadership is a complex and increasingly important school leadership mantle that research indicates is critical to school improvement, student learning and teacher development (Sage Publications, 2023). Middle school leadership is a bridge from elementary school to high school. Needless to say, middle school leadership requires selfless service to students, parents, and teachers. An impactful and veteran educator who loves to develop teachers, Ms. Petry was studying for ministry in her graduate program when she received the clearance and direction into education. Years later, she is leading a middle school team and ensuring learning for both students and teachers at one of the nation's cutting edge public school entities that provide access to quality education for families. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, and Ms. Petry discuss some key leadership principles gathered through her selfless service in education for emerging leaders. As always, these leadership principles are not just for education leaders but any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead. Pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any administrator, educator, or leader in your life. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. In this episode, we begin our school leadership series. We will hear from different K-12 school leaders in the trenches of leading their teams in meeting the needs of their students. We launch this series looking at elementary grade levels. It's 2024, and high quality elementary education nationally and state-by-state is still unaffordable and inaccessible for far too many families across the United States (Center for American Progress). A veteran educator who loves to light the learning fire of our youngest scholars, Mrs. Spears never thought she would be in education. However, when you are a child of God, life tends to be different because of the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who confirmed twice that education is exactly what He was calling Spears to. The rest is history- today she leads elementary grades at one of Texas public schools. Discussing with Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, Mrs. Spears shares some key leadership principles gathered through her extensive years in education with our youngest scholars for emerging leaders. These leadership principles are not just for education leaders but any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead. Take a listen and share with any administrator, educator, or leader in your life. It's a new year and January is that time of setting goals and making resolutions. Let's take a look at another perspective when it comes to a new year. We have all heard the word “Transformation” - Webster dictionary defines the word as a process, or instance of experiencing change that typically is intrinsic. Meaning a change from the inside. This is why many new year resolutions do not work. The good intentions of wanting to change requires inner work. If one is not ready to put in the work, then one is not ready to experience change.
Here at the Wellness Project, we are all about helping our community take responsibility for their growth. This year make transformation the focus of your growth and begin to take all the necessary steps towards it. If the focus of your transformation is to develop a relationship with God, then there are some necessary steps to take. One is accepting God’s gift of salvation as the ultimate. Next is to begin a daily pursuit of knowing God in His Word and through prayer. Finally, look for a community of people to meet with on a regular basis to grow in your relationship with God. No matter the industry or field you are, we have curated some community events to help jump start your transformational journey in this first quarter of 2024. Here they are:

Thank you Bertharie for the kind compliments and feedback! As always, we are committed to keep challenging you and your team through thought-provoking and transformative episodes! Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. This episode is a follow-up to the last one on growth. Bertharie from Rochester shared how she and her business team are always looking for how to grow together in their weekly calls. She asked this follow-up question: what can impede growth? Such a powerful question from leaders who are putting in the work to be better! Dr. Carol Dweck is known for her groundbreaking work on mindset. We are either living life with a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. It is one or the other. A fixed mindset impedes growth. A fixed mindset is like a flat tire, unless the tire is changed, one cannot get anywhere. Quote 2 “Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it.” – Steve Maraboli There are many examples of fixed mindsets. In this episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti, shares one example of a fixed mindset that can keep anyone, not just leaders in a miserable state of being and life. She offers three ways to tackle this miserable mindset, so you can experience the abundant life in your mind and life. What consumes one’s mind, ultimately controls one’s mind and life. This is why the Bible is the greatest living book is filled with time tested principles for living a life of purpose and impact. Wondering what the example of the fixed mindset is? Take a listen and share with all your networks. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Anytime the following questions are asked: What is growth? How can I know I am growing? or How does growth happen?, it's an indication of a reflective person that wants to be the best he or she can be. This episode is dedicated to answering all the questions in one topic- celebrate growth! A great analogy for growth can be derived from plants. Let's take an oak tree for example, growth typically occurs in three major parts. One is the buds, secondly is the root tips and lastly the cambium. Quote 2 "A state of mind that sees God in everything is evidence of growth in grace and a thankful heart"- Charles G Finney Growth happens silently and many times unnoticed. Growth is not just progress. Growth can be defined as increase in size of an organism or part of an organism. This increase in an organism is typically in the number of cells. In similar manner, growth of capacity happens silently with significant changes. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares three key things that can alert a leader to growth in his or her own life and that of the people they care for and lead. Leaders, embrace every opportunity to be all God created you to be! Take a listen and share with all your networks. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Leaders have a way of inspiring and influencing the people they lead. One of those ways is how their influence brings change, transformation and results. However, their influence is not a coincidence but an intentional way in how they choose to live and lead. The Pareto Principle is one of these intentional ways leaders live and lead. Leaders that know first hand the value of productivity, know there is a proven way to productivity. Italian scholar Vilfredo Pareto is the author of the Pareto Principle; a principle that is applicable to many areas of life. One scripture in the Bible points to why leaders must be intentional in how they lead. Luke 12:48 states, "To whom much is given, much is required, and to whom much is entrusted, there is great demand." In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares what the Pareto Principle is, how the Pareto Principle can help leaders increase productivity through well defined parameters and three things these kind of leaders do to continuously to stay productive. Leaders, take a listen and share with your networks. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. To know the power of prayer is to make prayer a non-negotiable priority. Believers in Christ who are yet to know this unparalleled power, have God's open arms of embrace to come closer and get to know the Creator of the Universe, the Alpha and Omega, the All Powerful, All Knowing, and All Present God! The Bible is full of accounts of people who made prayer a priority. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we see the lives of men and women who had an intimate relationship with God, not just in prayer, but in all areas of their lives. The hands of God were evident in their lives. We see that today too in our world. We see holy men and women of God, living out prayer in their everyday lives. These vessels of God understand that prayer is not a magic wand. Rather prayer is a lifestyle of being Christlike. A lifestyle of grace, love, joy, peace, holiness, and everything that brings honor and glory to God! Continuing the women in leadership series, in this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti discusses points of leadership with prayer warrior and leader- Mrs. Linda Wheeler. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Through the years, researchers seem to believe that misguided thoughts or convictions can lead to cognitive dissonance- a state whereby behaviors are contradictory to values or beliefs. Psychologists call this a clash of a person's beliefs and actions that causes internal turmoil or great discomfort. Simply put, cognitive dissonance is when there is an incongruency in one's behavior and beliefs. Studies have shown that sometimes there are root causes to cognitive dissonance. Great news is that change and transformation are possible! In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti shares about the pathway towards change and transformation from cognitive dissonance. Take a listen and share with anyone that could use this wake up call towards change and inner transformation. Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead. Women have been blazing trails in higher education for years. From leading universities to departments, to imparting knowledge to the next generation of leaders, women in higher education are extraordinary. With limited data on women's leadership in higher education, that has not limited our women leaders in advancing policies and practices in higher education. In a field that is still growing in terms of amplifying women's voices and leadership, we celebrate every woman in leadership in our higher institutions, not just here in the USA but globally. In this episode, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti chats with veteran education leader Dr. Miriam Ezzani, who is currently an associate professor of educational leadership at TCU College of Education, on her insights on leadership especially for emerging leaders in leading well. Dr. Ezzani shares 3 key insights not just for education leaders but any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those in their charge. Take a listen and share with any administrator, educator, or leader in your life.
