Howdy Friends!
It's almost spring time; in about two weeks! Here in Texas, it means we can leave everything icy or cold weather behind. We are loving our time together in the circle of love. We started out with a book study on the "Companion Manual: Wellness Principles Made Simple." For the next few weeks we will be discussing chapter 2 (inspection) and how important it is for healing and wholeness. Inspection is a critical aspect of many industries. Whether is food or construction, inspection is a key part of ensuring consumers and clients are safe. In wellness, inspection is similar. "Without inspection of our traumas, healing, restoration, and wellness will not be possible. Inspection is synonymous with a “mirror.” When you are getting dressed in the morning, your mirror lets you know what is still missing in getting ready. Trauma is a mirror that lets us know that wellness is missing in our souls and spirits." It is not too late to join us in the circle of love. Hope to see you there. That's it for now dear friends! Until next post, sending lots of love and prayers your way for a wonderful spring season. Love & Blessings!!! "Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers" - 3 John 1:2 Howdy Friends!
It is the last full week of January 2022! And new year greetings are still okay even towards the end of January 😊. Happy New Year! Hope your year is off to a great start! Remember to cherish each day- it’s God’s gift to you! How we “spend” the gift is our gift back to God! Diving into the new year, I have revisited all the cherished memories created on our last vacation to fuel the marathon of this year. This picture is one of many taken from our vacation last month. The picture has been helpful in launching the treasured membership of the Wellness Project. Three years ago, when the question was posed, for a place to meet consistently, this website was created. With your input and feedback, the circle of love has been added through the treasured membership. This is a place to unwind and chat about your wellness journeys. Excited for our times together here. Come on in! The inspiration came from our visit to the Banyan tree in Lahaina (Maui). The educator in me discovered some key things about the banyan tree. It belongs to the Moraceae family and the species, Ficus benghalensis L. For my plant enthusiasts, you can learn more about the banyan tree here. The tree is marked by trunk like aerial roots. This one in Lahaina has twelve major trunks. Interestingly, the banyan tree was imported from India and planted in front of the Lahaina courthouse and harbor in 1873. The tree is so huge it spans many blocks. What I Iike most about the Lahaina Banyan tree is the arrangement of park benches around the tree; it attracts people to slow down for a chat with co-visitors at the park. The Circle of Love is similar, as we slow down and chat about your wellness journey as a treasured child of God that you are! See you there! May 2022 be your best year yet! Keep making wellness a top priority. See you in the circle of love. Sending you tons of well wishes, love and cheer for an amazing year. Much love & Blessings! "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" - Proverbs 3:5 Howdy Friends! This is a short Christmas post 😊. It is Christmas time and I am delighted to spread some Christmas cheer! The excitement is all around us! Hope you have completed your shopping. Or maybe you are still wrapping your gifts. No matter what, take the pressure off-it’s Christmas time! A special time to take all in the amazing Gift God gave the world in His Son. A time to slow down to enjoy our families and loved ones. A time to create invigorating new memories that will fuel our lives for a long haul. A time to say, “Thank You” to God for being selfless and giving humanity the best Gift ever! That Gift is no longer a baby in the manger. Today, He is the Savior of the world. He is the perfect Guide of life. He is the genius Teacher of all ages! This is Christmas! As I celebrate Christmas, I am counting my blessings in you! Your bravery, your journey to wellness and your growth. It has been an honor serving you this year. I have loved getting to know many of you, your story and your journey. I am excited for you! Keep making wellness a top priority in your life. We are hearing and seeing a surge in the new omicron variant. So, please, take good care of yourself. Do whatever it takes for you to stay healthy for you and your loved ones. You are worth it! Until the next post (most likely in January of 2022), sending you lots of Christmas love, cheer and greetings! Merry Christmas in 12 languages! Afrikaans: Geseënde Kersfees! "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"- John 3:16 Howdy Friends! This is another short post and update 😊. My husband and I just came back from some R&R from beautiful San Diego. Hiking is always a great highlight of our R&Rs. We enjoyed hiking up one of San Diego's grassland peaks with some Christians from a church group. We had a chance to top off our R&R time with some time at the beach. We are back at life in our lovely Texas. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! In just three weeks of the release of the Companion Manual: Wellness Principles Made Simple- my inbox is filled with your purchase updates, well wishes, prayers and inspirations! This has been the other way around- I am blessed by your courage, care and love for yourself foremost and for others. My greatest delight in this new release is hearing from non-Christians who purchased a copy. It was my intent that you would find the resource beneficial. God really does love you! And I count it an honor to serve you and that you picked up a copy. As you will find out reading the Companion Manual, wellness in spirit, soul, body requires learned skills. With all that is happening around us, it is a great time to acquire and hone the necessary skills to thrive despite all happenings in the world. Humans have what it takes because we are created in the image of a Divine Architect. Our capacity and ability to thrive is an "inside" job that anyone who is ready to put in the hard work of change can experience a thriving life daily. Some of you asked for weekly seminars on the book. I promise to look into the possibility and update here. In the meantime, virtual one-on-one sessions are back! Yay! Check out the calendar. I'll love to hop on a video call and journey with you. Whether you are just starting your wellness journey or a veteran, I am cheering you on! It takes more than resiliency to thrive and enjoy the life God created and meant for us to live. It takes freedom of the soul. And it is not what we know about freedom that counts, it is what we do with what we know that breaks the chains of bondage off! I am here to help you thrive, this is your personal invite- let's go! That's it for now dear friends! Until the next post, sending lots of prayers your way for a wonderful fall season. Please stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers"- 3 John 1:2 Howdy Friends! This is a very short post and update 😊. I have missed updating you here. Hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy amidst everything happening (extreme weather, Covid, school reopenings, Afghanistan tragedy, etc.) A friend and I were chatting this week, and she reminded me that my last blog post was in May. She mentioned it was time for a fall update. So here we are with fall updates. Fall is officially three weeks away! September 22, 2021 to be exact. It has been a hyperactive type of summer and I could not be more thrilled for a slower pace ahead. I appreciate your patience and connection amidst all that is happening. This summer has been one of the busiest I can remember since our parenting days when our daughters were teens! That was over a decade and half ago! How time flies! They are now amazing, beautiful responsible adults( 30, 28 and 27). Those teen summer days were packed with travels, travels, and more travels. It was always one of those summer travels that you needed a vacation afterwards. I hope you and your families have had the opportunity to enjoy your summer before heading back to fall schedule, whatever that looks like for you. I am holding you close in heart, as we continue in prayer for families and friends. Drumroll...Some great news on upcoming book- the Companion Manual is finally completed! Yippee! From editing, the companion manual title changed to Wellness Principles Made Simple. This is the follow up companion manual to Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration from the Book of Nehemiah. It is an easy format and approach that anyone (Christians and non-Christians) will find useful in their healing and restoration journeys from trauma. Release date and other exciting book news will be announced soon. So, be sure and visit back here in about three week or less. That's it for now dear friends! Until the next post, sending lots of prayers your way for a wonderful fall season. Please stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together" Psalm 34:3 Howdy Friends! It has been a while since my last post in March! Thank you for all the birthday wishes, blessings and prayers. I am grateful to God for this new year. I appreciate the blessing each of you are. I am still celebrating till the end of the month😃 Thank you also for all the congratulatory messages on my appointment by the Governor as Chair of the Texas Diabetes Council. Honored to serve Texans with fellow Council members as we address issues affecting people with diabetes in Texas. Many of you inquired about the Council meetings. Please visit the Texas Diabetes Council web space to learn more and favorite the page. Congratulations to the class of 2021! Whether graduating from high school, undergraduate or graduate school- congrats on your achievement! Staying the course and graduating in the midst of a worldwide pandemic is commendable. It takes great focus and commitment on your part. I want to give a special shoutout to our daughter who graduated medical school, and got matched for residency amidst the pandemic. We are all so proud of you and cheering you on in this new season of life! Please be on the lookout for it. Appreciate all the collaborations for the book. That's it for now dear friends! Until the next post, enjoy summer and stay healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Blessed be the name of the Lord; from this time forth and forever" Psalm 113:2 Howdy Friends! Spring is in the air! Spring officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere on March 20, 2021. If you live in Texas, the weather we have had signals spring after the bizarre winter weather that visited us last month. We will take every bit of sunshine mixed with some winds, so long as we do not have any snow! Big “Happy Birthday” shoutout to my incredible husband. We celebrated his birthday Covid-19 style with some of his favorite food and outing. This post is a quick update on some of the inquiries that came through for the past two months. So here we go: 1. Covid-19 Healthy Mind Tips: This week marked the one-year anniversary of the pandemic. Friends have lost loved ones due to Covid-19. And the race to vaccinate anyone that needs and wants the Covid-19 vaccine is ongoing. Big thanks to all our medical personnel ensuring everyone that needs the vaccine can get one. Despite the on-going vaccination, many people still need help in coping with Covid-19 and all its related stress. The major mantra for coping with Covid-19 is, “Be Kind to Your Mind.” This kindness to your mind can take the form of taking frequent breaks from Covid related content, from news media and anything that heightens your stress level. By the way, these tips are great for post-Covid-19 to ensure your mental wellness. Take time to exercise, get fresh air, stay connected with family and friends. Most of all, reach out and seek help if you feel overburdened or unsafe in any way. Seeking help is wise. 2. TEKS Adoption: First, thank you to all Texans that participated in the review process of the Health Education and Physical Education curriculum standards last year. Your input during each step was vital to the success of the review process. Many of you have inquired about the status of the review. Great news! The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) approved the health education and physical education TEKS for adoption at the November 2020 meeting. The new curriculum standards in Health and Physical Education (TEKS) will be effective August 1, 2022 and are scheduled to be implemented in our Texas public school classrooms beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. Click on the hyperlink to see the approved revised standards. With many extended hours of public comments, this was a well worth process by the SBOE and TEA and I was honored to serve our state and students alongside my fellow content advisors. 3. Aggie Women Network: Last week I had the distinct honor to serve as a panelist for the Aggie Women Network: First Thursday Speaker Series. I have loved connecting with new friends from that session. Because the session was filled with so many nuggets that are beneficial for any age group in any profession, I am sharing the link to the Zoom live recording for you to watch at your convenience. Click this hyperlink for First Thursday Speaker Series: Networking – Creating Your Beehive. If you know of any young person that could use this networking information, please pass it along. If you would like to receive the free infographic resource I shared at the event, please reach out at info@oasisfocus.org. 4. World Education Summit: Shout out to all of you that have already informed me of your attendance at the premier World Education Summit organized by United Kingdom Osiris Educational. Excited we get to learn together at the summit. I am thrilled to serve educators at this summit sharing key life transforming truths on wellness. With over 200 speakers from around the globe, there is something for everyone, even if you are not an educator. Though the summit is virtual, speakers have different options to connect with you. I am looking forward to connecting with you for some portion of the wellness session. To my Texas friends, the Wellness Session is at 10:00am Central Standard Time. Visit the World Education Summit for registration details. 5. Weekly Bible Study: Covid-19 did not stop our Bible Study Community. We pivoted to a virtual community last March when the pandemic hit and we have been blessed as a community. The blessing of our pivot allowed for participation from different states and out of the country. It has been a great delight serving and connecting with believers from different backgrounds through our virtual Bible Study Community. We just concluded round one of the Spring semester Bible Study and gearing up for round two. I would love to serve you as we study and grow together in God's Word. Space is limited, so go register. Click on this hyperlink for more information on the 6 weeks study from the Book of Joel. That's it for now dear friends! Until the next post, take care of yourself and stay healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). Please let us know of any broken links. Email us at info@oasisfocus.org with details about the link. Thank you. Howdy Friends! Brace yourself for this long but necessary post to close out the year. My heart desire is to see anyone that wants to, living a joyful thriving life through Jesus Christ. This year revealed how important toilet paper was. Two months into the pandemic, many grocery stores ran out of toilet paper. How could that happen? One thing was certain; no one knew what to expect in a pandemic. The response to the pandemic disrupted toilet paper supply chain across the nation. Dr. Gonzalez from North Carolina State University Department of Forest Biomaterials attributed the toilet paper shortage to panic-buying. The response of panic-buying emphasized how critical the underlining principle of taking inventory was in the manufacturing industry. Too much or too little inventory can affect the overall welfare of a grocery store. To prevent any sort of imbalance, the manufacturing industry (stores) typically adhere to some basic inventory principles. This is applicable to life as well. The ability to take honest inventory affects our overall well-being as humans. As we end 2020 and enter into a new year, it is not unusual to set new goals and prepare for the year ahead. A popular quote by one of the Founding Fathers of the United States-Benjamin Franklin- sums up why preparation is essential. “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” However, this year my approach is different from the usual “set new goals” focus for a new year. This does not mean setting new goals is not important. Far from that, the reason is that the firsthand experiences of walking alongside so many people in the past seven months during this pandemic have shined a light on how important taking inventory is. Helping people through several virtual meetings to “unpack” and “process” the root causes to some debilitating spiritual, psychological and emotional situations that made them devoid of peace, joy, motivation, clarity, and direction during this pandemic, I was the blessed one. The experiences revealed how critical honest inventory is to our mental well-being. So instead of the usual set new goals for the new year, my heart desire for anyone yet to unpack or process trauma is to take some time to slow down and take an “inside inventory”, especially after such a pandemic year as 2020! Why this is necessary is because without taking an inside inventory, we tend to “hoard” our emotions by refusing to let things go. You probably have seen the show on HGTV -Hoarders- and know how debilitating clutter can be to overall health. Hoarding of emotions happens when negativity, loss, resentment, bitterness etc. piles up and henceforth blocks our mental capacity to respond to life in ways that are healing both to us as individuals and to others. Taking inventory allows the cleaning out of all the clutter inside of our spirits, souls, and emotions from trauma- be it mild or severe. If 2020 taught us anything; is that living prepared spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally sustains us. This sustenance in turn impacts our immune system and how it responds to the environment we live in. This year taught us how vital it is to prioritize our health. For the past two months I have been collaborating with a neuroscientist on the impact of trauma on the immune system. The understanding from our discussions have been very helpful as I work on the Companion Manual for Crushed to Restored: Principles of Restoration from the Book of Nehemiah. In the last decade there have been multiple studies that have provided evidence on how the immune system overlaps emotional responses. Some of the precious people I have worked with during this pandemic have given their permission to share their emotional hoarding experiences and how it affected their overall health and mental wellbeing. So, coming early Summer of 2021 by God’s grace will be the Companion Manual to Restoration Principles. The manual will break down the scriptural principles from the book of Nehemiah in an easy format and approach that anyone can use in their restoration journey. Please be on the lookout for it. To all my friends that embarked on their restoration journey this year, big kudos to you! It takes courage to make changes. To those yet to begin, I encourage you to take an inside inventory. You will be better for it. For those that have begun, review your restoration journey regularly and be brutally honest with yourself. Have you made progress towards wholeness? Celebrate! That’s a big deal. Have you confronted hidden traumas from your past that kept you stuck? Celebrate! Not many people can look in the mirror and be honest enough to change. You did! Now celebrate. The New Year 2021 awaits you with open arms! Parents of school age children, please take some time to guide your children in taking inventory of their emotions. Data and reports in the past three months point to an increase in anxiety for students in K-12 grades. There is help available, please reach out. Happy New Year Friends! Until next post, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2) Research link updated 7/7/2022 Howdy Friends! I have a collection of angels. Some as gifts from friends and some bought at antique stores. Back in 1994 when the Touched by an Angel series premiered on CBS, it quickly became a family favorite to our then homeschooling family. Angels Monica and Della had a way into our hearts with their sweetness, firmness, wisdom, and guidance in each human assignment they had. Such is life with each of us on assignment by God to be an “angel” where He has us. Last post, I promised to share airing information with you. I received the news this week and excited to share that Season 2 of Speak Up is now up on Amazon Prime Video. For my friends that like numbers, you will be glad to know that current data from Digital Commerce and Consumer Intelligence Research Partners states that there are now 126 million Amazon Prime members in the United States. My husband and I enjoyed watching all the episodes in one sitting. This is your special invitation to watch Season 2 Speak Up show. Each message is embedded with an angelic guidance to life. You will be touched by an angel through each speaker. I would love to hear how “The Healing Response” blessed you when you watch. And if I could further serve you, please reach out and let me know. It would be a joy to do so. Special thanks again to the terrific production team at MPN Global Network for having us all share angelic guidance on Season 2 of Speak Up. Until next post friends, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding"(Proverbs 3:6). Howdy Friends!
I have missed updating you here! It has been an around the clock type of few months. At our September podcast recording, my husband and I were discussing how fast this year has been. We are half way through September and before we know it we are entering a new year! In the midst of this pandemic counting days have never been vital as it is. Each day is God's gift to humanity- to behold Him, His goodness, His mercies, His people and His workings in our midst. This pandemic confirms that life does come with its many challenges that many of us are not fully equipped to navigate successfully. Last month I had the honor along with ten other terrific speakers to be on the upcoming season two of the SpeakUp show that airs on Amazon Prime. The message is a healing balm for where we are right now amidst this pandemic from what God did in my own life years back. For many people, 2020 has been a traumatic year. The way we are responding to this pandemic or other traumatic situations can either propel us to a strong thriving life fueled by the Holy Spirit or keep us stuck in a destructive cyclic mindset. When God created humans, He gave us a beauty as living things to have the ability to self repair. Humans are intricate beings with superhero powers when it comes to the body healing itself. When the body experiences a cut or wound like the skin, the body is able to heal itself through repair and regeneration. Isn't our God Great to have created humans this way? Think for a second, there is a mechanism for the human body to heal itself. How about the human soul, emotion, heart or spirit? Is there a mechanism for these inner parts of humans to heal when wounded or cut? God's Word is full of answers! Find out on my episode of the SpeakUp show on Amazon Prime. Elated for you to hear, believe and obey the healing response and other life transforming messages from other speakers. I have the assurance that once you taste and experience the deep abiding joy that comes from the healing response of the soul, you too will be an ambassador of healing to others through agape love because God always gives a crown of beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61: 3). Check back for airing information. Until next post friends, stay safe and healthy. Love & Blessings!!! “A cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22). |
